Our Favourite Baby-Friendly Byron Bay Beaches

Posted by Kyla Geen on

When we think about summer, we think about long lazy days at the beach. But as a parent, a day at the beach is not as easy as life before baby. Here are three of our favourite baby-friendly beaches in Byron Bay and beyond so you can really unwind and enjoy making memories with your little one.

Wategos Beach

It’s one of our all-time favourites for good reason! Wategos offer a sheltered bay, beautiful trees for shade and gentle waters (most of the time). When the tide is out the bay forms the perfect natural wading pool for babies and toddlers. We love it so much that we shot our recent swim nappy campaign here. Locals tip...arrive early. Parking spots are limited and it can get very busy on weekends or holidays. The guys at Rae’s coffee cart are there bright and early for your morning coffee fix.

Main Beach

It’s Byron Bay’s most popular beach, but for good reason. The long flat stretch of sand makes it easy to roll down the beach cart, pop up the umbrella and lounge for hours. It’s patrolled by lifeguards in summer for extra peace of mind. If you need to top up your snack or drink stash, the Byron Bay township is a short stroll away. There is also a grassy park with a playground at the northern end, perfect for older kids or picnics.

Broken Head Beach

This beach is an uncrowded option just 7km south of Byron Bay. With plenty of protected rock pools, your baby or toddler will love getting their toes wet and exploring nature’s treasures under the salty sea. Watch surfers take on a challenging break and enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful beach. There is free parking available at the picnic area at the end of Broken Head Reserve Road.
